Docking

The Port of Astoria is situated 14 miles from the mouth of the majestic Columbia River. It has two marinas, both run by the Port Authority. The West Basin has more facilities and is busier than the East Basin, which is another mile and a half up the river.

Both marinas are less than a mile from historic downtown Astoria. The Riverfront Trolley provides an interesting mode of transport to the downtown area, with its many shops and restaurants. Alternatively, a paved RiverWalk extends along much of the river front between the marinas and downtown. Full completion is due in 2005.

The currents in this powerful river can be very stong. If anchoring, take local advice on a suitable safe spot.
