  Kas : Profile

Location

Kaş (pronounced "Kash") is a small fishing, diving, yachting and tourist town, situated midway between Finike and Fethiya on a hill running down to the sea. As a tourist town it is relatively unspoiled.

The port is attractive, although it can be rather airless in the hottest part of the summer.

Clearance

Customs, police and Health Authorities are all conveniently situated near the waterfront, although visiting all the necessary offices can take a large part of the day.

The new Kas Marina (May 2011: due to open soon), will house all the port authority offices, making clearance much simpler.

Docking

Approach to the entrance to Kas Harbour is not easy to identify until close up, and an underwater rock nearby is marked with a buoy.

To moor in the harbour go stern or bows-to. Holding in the harbour is reasonable and the shelter is good. Although full of charter, dive and tourist boats, space can usually be found on the southern quay.

The new Kas Marina is open for visiting yachts, however currently (May 2011) is not charging for berthing as some services have yet to be finished. The marina will officially open "soon".

Last updated May 2011.

Bucak Marina
West Kas
Bucak Deniz is a long fjord-like bay with good protection and this marina at its head. Full marina services for visiting yachts (also caters for larger vessels in addition to local sea traffic). This is a peaceful bay, only interrupted by occasional traffic along the coast road, which follows the perimeter of the marina. Ten minute walk to Kas Town, and 15 minutes to Kas harbour.
