Clearance

This is the principle port for yachts entering Syria. Contact Lattakia Radio on VHF channel 16 when entering territorial waters at 12NM off and follow instructions.

Since there are specific rules concerning the distance a yacht must stay off the Syrian coast and a yacht's approach to Lattakia Harbour, any yacht wanting to visit there on their own should contact the Yacht Club in advance for the latest procedures and for them to be able to make the necessary arrangements. You will be required to fax or email, scanned copies of the crew passports.

Take care to arrive on a weekday as offices are closed on Fridays and Saturdays, as well as on various national holidays.

The officials will visit the boat and all must remain on board until has been clearance is completed.

  1. hours' notice is required before clearing out and once cleared, no one must leave the boat. Again it needs to be a weekday.

Docking

The Yacht Club marina is in the NE corner of the fishing port (Nadir Yakut) and is marked by a tall black and white building.

The moorings are alone the northern breakwater. Beware of the various loose mooring lines floating around the harbour.

Mooring fees tend to be higher than average for the Mediterranean.

35deg 32'N, 35deg 46'N. Marina varies from 2 to 6m. 50 berths (+50 ashore). Full facilities including 30 tons slipway and 80 tons Travel hoist. Laundry, restaurant.
