Paramaribo : Profile
On approaching the Suriname River, contact contact MAS (Maritime Authority
Suriname) on VHF channel 12 or 16 and let them know of your arrival. The operator will guide you to where you could or should anchor. There are no mooring buoys here. You may also be able to anchor at Domburg and then return to the city for clearance.
MAS maintains a safe and beaconed entrance to the river so that entrance by day or night is no problem, although it is best to time your arrival close to HW.
Both the Foreign Police and the Immigration office need to be visited by all the crew.
See Clearance on the Suriname country page.

There are no longer any moorings at MAS. Anchoring is possible in front of the Torarica Hotel (a negotiable fee for use of their dinghy dock and/or hotel facilities - showers, sauna, gym etc), or in front of cafe-restaurant Broki a bit further up.
There are also two moorings at the Merodia pier just before the Merodia bridge (for a charge). All these are next to the centre of town. The MAS operator can let you know where that is.
Further up the river, at Domburg, (which is about 6 NM from Paramaribo) is a quiet anchorage with shops nearby. Most yachts choose to anchor here. Moorings are now also available.
