Paramaribo : Profile
MAS (Maritime Authority Suriname) maintains a safe and beaconed entrance to the Suriname river so that entrance by day or night is no problem. Contact MAS on VHF channel 12 on reaching the river mouth. The operator will guide you to where you could or should anchor.
See Clearance on the Suriname country page.

There are no longer any moorings at MAS. Anchoring is possible in front of the Torarica Hotel ($20US per day plus use of their facilities), or in front of cafe-restaurant Broki a bit further up. There are also two moorings at the Merodia pier just before the Merodia bridge (for a charge). All these are next to the centre of town. The MAS operator can let you know where that is.
Further up the river, at Domburg, (which is about 6 NM from Paramaribo) is a quiet anchorage with shops nearby. Most yachts choose to anchor here. A marina is being developed here; moorings are now available.
