Suakin and Port Sudan harbour have good phone coverage and also along coast between the two ports.

Coverage is a bit erratic as you move north but some Marsas have both good phone and internet coverage.

Marsa Fijab (excellent); Khor El Marob and Marsa Oseif also have good coverage.

Three years into a circumnavigation that began in Turkey, January 2015 sees SY Tamarisk on passage up the Red Sea, via the Gulf of Aden, Saudi Arabia, Sudan and upwards towards the Suez Canal.
