  Barcelona : Profile

Docking

This is a major European port and is busy with all type of shipping. There are several berthing options for yachts close to the city and several more only a few miles away.

Marina Port Vell is in the re-built (1992) Roman harbour in the heart of the Old Town and has about 50 visitors' berths. There is now an entrance connecting Muelle de Poniente with Dique del Este. This avoids transiting the commercial harbour and negotiating a lifting bridge with erratic opening times. Call Port Vell on VHF Channel 68 or tel:+34 93 4842300.

Puerto Olimpico is sited in the heart of the new waterfront area and with its high walls is well protected from wind and swell. It has over 100 visitors' berths.

A welcome addition to berthing facilities in the city, is the new marina at Badalona, 3nm north of Puerto Olimpico, not to be confused with Puerto Forum close by. This one caters principally for super-yachts and is much more expensive.

Puerto de Barcelona has two sets of pontoons operated by the two yacht clubs and is sited in the basin to the west of Port Vell.

Puerto Premia de Mar and Puerto Deportivo Masnou (both with over 100 berths) are approximately 12 NM North West of the centre and Port Ginesta and Port Garraf 14NM to the SE.
