  St. Francis Bay : Profile

Location

The small harbour of St. Francis Bay is situated approximately 50 miles West of Port Elizabeth, on the South African south coast. Port St. Francis is roughly mid way between Port Elizabeth & Knysna and is the only harbour of refuge between those two ports.

Docking

It has walk on moorings for 40 commercial squid fishing boats (up to 20m LOA) and 160 recreational craft, mainly small fishing boats. There are always vacant moorings available for visiting yachts.

Entry to the harbour is safe, although the actual harbour entrance is narrow. The depth is maintained at approximately a minimum of 2.0m at LWS.

The harbour master can be contacted on Channel 16 (VHF) and permission to enter should always be sought. The harbour entrance is somewhat difficult to see, when viewed from sea. The position is approximately 1 mile NW of Cape St. Francis point.

Yacht Clubs

The local Yacht Club has showers and the Club is open for meals daily.
