  Port Owen : Profile

Location

This sheltered port in the southern corner of St Helena Bay, is about 35nm north of Saldanha Bay and is probably the best spot on the South African coast to spend the winter months and it makes an ideal departure port from SA.

Clearance

This is not a Port of Entry, but clearance can be done at Saldanha.

Docking

Yachts can enter the harbour at any stage of the tide and proceed to the "holding jetty" which is on the port side shore and clearly marked. For visiting yachts wanting to proceed further up-river and into the Marina it is advisable to contact the Marina office and or to wait for high tide. Yachts doing this trip must just follow the line of centre channel marker buoys to the Marina entrance.

The Port Owen Yacht Club welcomes visiting and cruising yachts.
