  Port Alfred : Profile

Docking

"Port Alfred", half way between East London and Port Elizabeth (33.36,3 S and 26.54,3 E) has been developed into a Marina of "Port Grimaud" style. Unfortunately the entry has silted up badly. It is now a dangerous on-shore approach with unreliable 1,6 mtr depth and only 40 ft wide. Local sailors advise anyone to only use Port Alfred in absolutely settled weather and ideally with local knowledge.
