Vilamoura : Profile
This purpose-built resort town and marina lies about 10nm east of Albufeira. It is a popular stop for those setting off accross the Atlantic or for anyone wishing to leave the boat in a secure port for a while.
Position 37°04.1'N,08°07.3'W.
For clearance, yachts must come alongside the reception dock on the port side in front of the control tower. For one night stops it is possible to check in and out at the same time.
All paperwork (ships papers, passports and insurance) is carried out at marina office.
Port Authority Tel:+351 289 313214, Fax:+351 289 310580
The wide entrance leads into an outer basin from which a narrower entrance leads to the marina. The shelter here is very good but in strong southerlies, the wide entrance can be dangerous.
Be sure to identify the correct entrance as that of the fishing port is close by. There is a large, conspicous hotel to the E of the marina entrance.
On arrival, berth at the reception pontoon and report to the office.
There is no anchoring in the outer harbour.
