  Sesimbra : Profile

Location

This picturesque, and active fishing port lies on the southern side of the Arrabida hills, about 30nm south of Lisbon. It is overlooked by a magnificient 17th century castle.

Position 38°26.3'N, 09°06.4'W

Clearance

The Policia Maritima have premises on the new fishing wharf and there is a GNR-Brigada Fiscal office in the town. Check at Clube Naval if still necessary to check in or wait for authorities to visit yacht.

Docking

The port is 1.5 miles south of the town. The marina here is inside the port and is very sheltered.

Alternatively there is an anchorage in 5m just north of the harbour, clear of the fairway.

Beware of the strong northerlies blowing down from the high ground in late afternoon/evenings.
