  Trondheim : Profile

Location

This vibrant city, the third largest in Norway, was founded in 997. It is located about a third of the way up the west coast where the river Nidelva enters the large fjord of Trondheimsfjorden. Being well inland, it has a warmer, more sheltered climate than that prevailing on the coast.

Docking

Trondheim has three guest harbours for pleasure craft, Skansen, Fosen-kaia and at the Tavern (near the Royal Garden Hotel).

On-going work in the harbour is likely to affect mooring options in 2008, limiting space for visiting yachts. Guest pontoon at Skansen now W, not E, of yacht club and marina. The lifting bridge is shut during tunnelling operations. No berthing in Kanal Havn for visiting yachts while work continues.
