  Ny Alesund : Profile

Docking

Ny Ålesund prides itself for being the northernmost settlement in the world (78°55'N, 11°56'E) The small settlement has a permanent population of only a dozen people, mostly employed by the King's Bay Company. Their number is swollen each summer by scores of scientists involved in various research projects.

Visiting yachts may use the new dock and pontoon, for which a charge is made, but anchoring is free. There is both water and fuel (diesel and petrol) on the main quay managed by the Port Captain (monitors channel 16, working channel 12). Rubbish can left at the dock.
