This well-preserved holiday destination is Norway's most southerly town.

It has been reported that the customs house here has closed, although the port is listed as an official Port of Entry.

Mandal offers ice free harbour with facilities for wintering afloat. Large yachts may moor along wharf (Bryggegata),with smaller yachts at pontoons. Arrangements for electricity, security etc can be made with harbour office. The canal inside Lindesnes will open up for ice free berthing at Baloy and Hollen, Spangereid "Port of Agder" is an umbrella organization for council ports on Norways S coast. With offices located in Mandal they have knowledge of vacant winter berths along the coast from Kristiansand to Egersund.
