This is not a port of entry. The nearest such port is Opua in the Bay of Islands.

Docking

This sheltered harbour is a useful stopover when exploring the northern tip of New Zealand's North Island; an area known as The Northlands. It is in an area well-known for its big game fishing.

Whangaroa (pronounced fong-ga-ro-a) is a large natural harbour. The entrance is narrow and through which the tide runs hard.

Located 40 minutes drive north from downtown Auckland on the Whangaparaoa Peninsular. Very sheltered hidden between a breakwater and canal housing development. 24 hour security. 998 berths full facility marina with 100 and 35 ton travel lifts, undercover storage, 100 vessel hardstand, long term storage. Laundry, hot showers, toilet, chandler, boat builders, engineers, riggers, osmosis specialists, sails, rigs, general store, bars and restaurants.

This marina is 20 minutes (at 5 knots) from Whangaroa Harbour entrance. There are showers and toilets, fuel, water, power and a cafe/bar.
