Whangaroa : Profile
This is not a port of entry. The nearest such port is Opua in the Bay of Islands.
This sheltered harbour is a useful stopover when exploring the northern tip of New Zealand's North Island; an area known as The Northlands. It is in an area well-known for its big game fishing.
Whangaroa (pronounced fong-ga-ro-a) is a large natural harbour. The entrance is narrow and through which the tide runs hard.

Very sheltered hidden between a breakwater and canal housing development. 24 hour security. 998 berths full facility marina with 100 and 35 ton travel lifts, undercover storage, 100 vessel hardstand, long term storage. Laundry, hot showers, toilet, chandler, boat builders, engineers, riggers, osmosis specialists, sails, rigs, general store, bars and restaurants.

Whangaroa Marina Whangaroa Harbour, PO Box 141, Kaeo, Northland 0471, Whangaroa Tel:+64 (0)9 405 0505, Fax:+64 (0)9 405 0505, VHF Channel 62 Opening Hours: Office 0700-1900 This marina is 20 minutes (at 5 knots) from Whangaroa Harbour entrance. There are showers and toilets, fuel, water, power and a cafe/bar.
