Time Zone

UTC +12. Daylight Saving Time UTC +13 commences at 2.00am Standard Time on the first Sunday in October each year. It ends at 2.00am Standard Time on the third Sunday in March of the following year.

Money

Check what amount of Cash must be declared to customs on arrival and departure.

Communications

Primary mobile phone providers, Telecom and Vodaphone, have now been joined by 2 Degrees and other new providers, which has led to much cheaper options. You may be able to use an existing phone, and just swap out the sim card.

Phone cards such as Yabba are also available in supermarkets, dairies and gas stations.

Island Cruising Association The Island Cruising Association is involved in promoting Yacht Cruising. They offer help and advice including seminars, training days, recommended reading, discounts at many marine stores, marine insurance and rallies to the South Pacific Islands. They have "Port Captains" in many NZ and South Pacific ports. Yachties arriving in a port can phone or email the Port Captain to ask where to get parts, where the best cafe, etc.
