Hienghene : Profile
This is now a port of entry. Yachts should report to the Port Captain (Capitaine de Port) on arrival. Immigration formalities will still have to be carried out in Noumea (a 5 hour drive away) for entry formalities to be completed, but yachts are given 7 days in which to do this.
Customs (Douanes) allow you to clear in here ONLY IF YOU HAVE NOTHING TO DECLARE. If you have to declare animals, guns, merchandise that will be off loaded, ... then the ONLY port you can clear in is in Noumea.
On the NE coast of the main island, it is best known for the odd rock formation just off-shore, called the Brooding Hen.
The marina is only possible for shoal-draft vessels, but there is a deep water anchorage outside the entrance.
