  Xcalak : Profile

Clearance

There is a port captain's office but no immigration. Check in with police also. The Navy may inspect the boat.

Docking

This quiet town is no busy tourist resort, tucked away as it is at the end of a long peninsula and close to the Belize border. There is a navel station here.

There is no marina, just secluded anchorages.

There is a large supermarket in Playa del Carmen, and sometimes fruit and vegetables are available from a truck. Beer, soft drinks and limited supplies are available in Xcalak.

Water can be obtained from the town, in five-gallon containers.

There are very few phones in Xcalak. Marine VHF radio is the most common form of local communication.
