Customs, immigration and port authority offices are all located by the Kuah ferry dock.

There is now a Thai consulate in Langkawi, but it does not issue visas for Thailand.

There are marinas at the Langkawi Yacht Club, Telaga Harbour and Rebak marina on the small island of Rebak. Rebak Marina has been expanded and now has a range of repair facilities as well as a drydock. It is a safe place to leave the boat while touring the interior and is a particular favourite with long-term live-aboards.

There is a new dinghy dock, charge RM20 per week, in front of the Mosque for use by yachts at anchor. A tripper boat dock may reduce the size of the anchorage. Yachts can also anchor at Bass Harbour (Kuah) as well as Telaga and Rebak Marinas, with facilities at both marinas available for visiting yachts.

Spectacular anchorages abound in this area, but for long-term stays the best year-round choice is in Bass Harbour, close to Kuah. Bass Harbour has two main anchorage areas; just west of the Royal Langkawi Yacht Club (RLYC) or in front of the Bella Vista Hotel. The holding is not good and it is advisable to have someone on board at all times. Yachts dragging during squalls is especially a problem. Marine growth is alos a problem, but the main disadvantages of both is the difficult dinghy landing.

06º17.6'N 99º41.7'E. Well sheltered marina/resort on its own island, connected by 15-minute ferry to the main island of Langkawi. Minimum depth 2.5 metres. Electricity, Fuel, Water, Restaurant, Swimming pool, Laundry, Hardstands. 65 ton travelift. Gas bottles can be filled. Taxi to Kuah from the ferry landing. Weekly vegetable market right where ferry docks. A 2 km ride north (towards airport) to a town with meat market and bakery and post office.

Marina located WNW of Airport and Lanka Suka, behind the "Summer Palace" and just east of Pulau Burau. Lat. 06 22 01N, 099 41 10E. Red and Green buoys mark the entrance. A conspicuous replica lighthouse can be seen on the Port side wall of channel entrance, and two low man made islands off beach near entrance. Marina channel runs S to N, depth 3.5M min. LWS; Marina depth 4.5M min. LWS. Custom and Immigration Office, Marine Department and Police Station. Pontoon berths and swing moorings, also alongside mega-yacht dock available. Fuel Dock; Business Centre: E-mail; Phone and Fax; Bank and ATM. Provisioning (including meat, fruit and vegetables) van visits every Friday. Perdana Quay and Petronas Quay have a range of restaurants and stores, banking and currency exchange facilities. 20 minutes from Langkawi International Airport (LGK).
