Puerto Lempira : Profile

Location

This town is located on the shores of the Caratasca Lagoon and although the river entrance is shallow, sailing boats of up to 5 or 6ft draft should have no problems. It is approximately 30 miles north of the border with Nicaragua. The main industry here is fishing.

Clearance

This is a Port of Entry.

The Port Captain and Immigration office are both in the same building and are both open 8:00 to about 16:00, Mondays to Fridays and oon Satudays 08:00 to 11:30. All officials are friendly and professional and clearance is straightforward.

Docking

There is a long wooden projecting into tha lagoon. Depth alongside is uncertain, but suitable for landing with a dinghy.
