La Ceiba : Profile
Proceed directly into the Lagoon Marina. The office will arrange clearance with the port captain and immigration. Alternatively, one can anchor off the town and complete formalities in La Ceiba itself.
Cruisers warn that high fees are charged here by the Port Captain and his agent for entry clearance (US$160), and again by the Empresa Nacional Portuaria for an exit zarpe (US$109).
It seems the two agencies are at odds, and competing for fees from cruisers.
Last updated May 2011.
There is limited space in La Ceiba harbour for anchoring (lots of traffic).
Two marinas, Lagoon Marina and Grand Marina, provide a full range of services, as well as clearance facilities.
