Amapala : Profile
A convenient and attractive place to stop on the less frequented Pacific coast, on El Tigre Island. The activities of the former commercial port were moved two decades ago to San Lorenzo on the mainland.
Although not an official port of entry, boats have been able to stop here. Boats are visited on arrival by the port captain, who will request clearance certificate (zarpe) from the last port. Customs and immigration are visited next, their offices being on the quay. There is a small fee for all formalities, which includes the issuing of a certificate on departure.
