Kawaihae : Profile
Located on the NW corner of the island, the main harbour here is a commercial one. It is planned to be off limits to private boats once the small boat harbour (South Basin), one mile to the south, is in use.
Position 20°1.6'N, 155°49.4'W.
Call the Honokohau Harbour Master to find out where/if there is a mooring available.
Anchoring, even where allowed, is not recommended due to the very poor holding and strong winds which can affect this area.
Ensure you keep clear of the tugs and army supply boats which constantly ply this harbour.
Currently there are no facilities in the South Basin.
