  Rhodos, Mandraki : Profile

Clearance

Yachts coming from other ports in Greece must complete formalities with the port police. If coming from outside Greece, Immigration and Customs must also be visited, both located at Mandraki Marina.

Port Police here have been reported as very officious, checking everything possible including the ship's logbook! They also insist on separate check in/check out even when planned stay is less than 12 hrs.

Docking

Mandraki, Rhodes' yacht harbour, is usually full of local or charter yachts with little room for visitors. The town quay is reserved for local ferries and hydrofoils.

The moorings on the E side are private. All berths are allocated to charter boats and vsitors are discouraged from berthing here. The pontoon on the W side is the nominal visitors' berth and has no fixed moorings. It would not be safe to leave a yacht un-attended here. Most of the mooring rings are almost rusted through, and it is very difficult to have confidence in security of the boat.

There is an anchorage about 1nm SE of the harbour, close to the old city and a small boatyard. Take a line to one of the big blocks lying along the east side.

As of April 2007 no progress has been made on the marina.

Weather information (in English) is on VHF channel 63 at 0600/1000/1600/2200hrs UTC

Very limited facilities here. Fuel, Water, electricity and WCs just about completes the list.

Rhodes Marina
Situated on the east side of Rhodes town. Work in progress. Problems with anchor chains and worse so beware as visiting yachts pay for diver to release! Quay occupied mainly by local boats with small corner for visitors.
