Kos : Profile
The Old Harbour is well protected, but there can be a surge when a strong meltemi blows. Moor bows-to on the NE side of the harbour.
It is not a particularly attractive or welcoming harbour for visiting yachts. It collects a lot of rubbish (poly bags & bottles etc.) and several areas of the quay are blocked by half sunken wrecks.
The new marina is situated 1 mile SE of the Old Harbour of Kos. It can be called on VHF 77 Kos Marina. On arrival, take the boat's papers to the marina reception, which is in the middle of the complex, opposite pontoon D.
In settled weather, there is an anchorage off the beach between the harbour and the marina.
The Port Authority can be contacted on VHF channel 12
