Chios , Port Khios : Profile

Docking

This port of entry at Limin Khiou (Port Chios) often has an uncomfortable, lumpy swell in the approach channel due to the prevailing northerlies blowing against a north-flowing current. This is a large, noisy and busy harbour, but shelter from the Meltemi (if not from the noise!) can be found by squeezing onto the mole in the SE corner. The west mole (clear of the ferries) offers an alternative berth in calm, settled weather. The south mole generally has more space, but the wash from the ferries can make this uncomfortable.

Greece
No electricity, water or supervision in Marina. Small craft use the moles and have laid their own moorings tailed to the moles. Visiting craft go alongside the East Mole. Dangerous patch of rock about 60m 240o from end of west mole about 1m below surface.
