Kiel (Kieler Hafen) : Profile
This large inlet is well served with places to berth. It is also possible to anchor in the Hafen, but the heavy commercial trafic makes this an unwise option.
Kiel is an ideal place to prepare for a cruise in the Baltic as provisoining is good in the modern city centre and a wide range of repair services are available here too.
Dusternbrook is the most convenient berth for the city as it is 1.5 miles S of the canal entrance.
Laboe is a pleasant small town and fishing harbour on the E bank, close to the entrance of the Hafen. There is a customs post here.
Tiessenkai is a small yacht harbour just north of the lock entrance.
Other berths may be found at Gaarden, Schwentine, Monkeberg and Moltenort.
