Ua Pou : Profile
Probably the most scenic island in the
Marquesas from a distance with
its volcanic spires and needles.
Ua Pou is a port of entry. Formalities are
completed at the Gendarmerie, open 0730-1200, 1400-1730 Monday to Friday.
The bond can be deposited at the local bank if this has not been done earlier.
If you have fruits or vegetables from other islands, they may not
be landed, as Ua Pou does not have the fruit fly, as does Nuku Hiva.
Hakahau harbor: anchorage behind a
breakwater in 20 feet of good sand
for 5 or 6 boats with bow and stern anchors, dock
with water faucets and dinghy landing, easy walk to village. If space is available, boats may come alongside the quay temporarily, when
local freighters do not use it.
