  Villefranche-sur-Mer : Profile

Location

This very safe, sheltered harbour lies just to the east of Nice. It is protected by the long peninsula of Saint Jean Cap Ferrat. The old town and harbour front is a popular set for historical film-makers.

Position 43° 41.97' N, 7° 18.6' E.

Docking

The marina is located in the old harbour, La Darse. Visiting yachts are berthed east of the quay.

For anchoring, it is best to get close to bathing buoys to find shallow (<10m) depths and pick spot between weed patches but once in, holding good and well sheltered.

It was reported that as from Spring 2011 in both the rade du villefranche and the rade du st hospice, no anchoring will be allowed, but we have a report from a cruiser who found many yachts anchored in both places in June 2011.
