  Sete : Profile

Location

Lying about 80nm west of Marseille, it is just 20 miles from the National Park of the Camargue. It is a very busy port with a huge number of boats of all types coming and going. It has a real buzz of its own, forming as it does, one of the gateways to Europe's inland waterways.

Position 43° 23.3'N, 3° 42'E.

Clearance

Customs, 24 quai Aspirant Herbert (at the junction of the Nouveau Bassin and the Canal Maritime) Tel: +33 (0)467 748587

Docking

It is required that yachts enter this port via the western entrance.

A useful plan of the port area.

The marina is right round to port once through the entrance.

It is possible tie up, free, for a night at the Quai D’Alger if there are no cruise ships in the port. The concession is made for boats supposed to be awaiting the opening of the bridges over the canal leading to the Etang de Thau.

If leaving the boat to over-winter here, be aware of thieves tageting boat electronics and other valuable equipment.
