  Helsinki : Profile

Location

Helsinki maintains a small-town feel; there are no high-rise buildings and the market square is still surrounded by 19th-century architecture. It is unlike any other Finnish city, due in part to the fascinating combination of Swedish and Russian influences.

Clearance

Clearance is done at Suomenlinna Island, southeast of Helsinki, at a special clearance station for yachts. On arrival at the Helsinki traffic control area all vessels over 12 m shall maintain permanent watch on VHF Channel 71. Vessels over 20 m must report to the station the name of the vessel, its route and destination. A similar report must be made before departure.

Docking

There are plenty of berth options in and around Helsinki.
