Fiji, Port Denerau: Stores and Services

A useful report with details of markets, supermarkets, hardware and other stores in the area around Port Denarau, Nadi and Musket Cove.

Published 9 years ago, updated 5 years ago

I’ve been wanting to pass on the information we gathered in July 2015.

I put down the things we like and are sometimes harder to find.

Also, the assortments/availabilities seem to change from time to time quite a bit.

The list is by far not complete but should help if you need to stock up a lot.

Car rental at Avis Denarau can be negotiated at FJD96/24h (without insurance).

Cheap buses run frequently and there are also plenty of taxis.

Markets:

4) Nadi Downtown

Namaka (Farmboy) – also delivers to Musket Cove: www.facebook.com/farmboy.fiji, T 9951302

Supermarkets:

Yess Xpressmart – Denarau – nice toasted granola, brown rice chips, a few items seem not more expensive than a town: present receipt to qualify for a discount upstairs at the duty-free stuff

1) Flavio’s – meat, cold cuts, frozen salmon, a wide range of Italian delicacies, canned lentils + other legumes, honey, lots of organic stuff (bit expensive)

2) South Pacific Butcher – apparently very good meat and some cold cuts

3) Habib Mediterranean Restaurant – heard they also have delicacies

– MH Supermarket – Nadi (4) + Namaka – good prices for beer, wine, Molly’s Irish cream, block cheese, mango chutney, sometimes big flaked oats, Huntley & Palmers crackers – if I only need a few things, I went to MH Nadi

–  Shop N Save – downtown Nadi (4) + Namaka – good prices for beer, wine, spirits (bounty rum spiced), block cheese, unibis cookies, ETA peanut butter + chips

4) New World – downtown Nadi – a bit limited

10) New World airport – lots of bread, cheeses, meat, cereal, nuts & seeds, var. rice crackers, ETA corn chips, Mexican dip, olives, sundried tomatoes, Cadbury 70% chocolate, coffee, liquor shop

6) RB Patel – Jetpoint, Martintar – good chocolate at the counter, heard diapers are the cheapest there

7) P Meghi Trading – Eden Plaza, Nadi (after Jetpoint Center, on the same side – bottle shop (seemed a bit expensive) and great nuts, sesame seeds, dried fruit, olive oil and more

Rajendras Foodtown – Namaka, opposite market – general supermarket, lots of Indian stuff (chickpeas)

Consumer – Namaka, T 6723556 (one of the cheapest, lots of Indian spices + legumes, whole pealed Italian tomato cans

Traders Supermarket – Musket Cove – sometimes organic veggies from the Resorts gardens, Tahini, Huntley & Palmers crackers

Indian Supermarket – by the airport strip, just before Plantation Resort; a bit cheaper and sometimes more fruit and veggies – really varies and depends a lot on the ferry deliveries

Hardware Stores:

– around Denarau Marina: some can omit the 14% vat

5) B & M Patel – Nakavu, T 6700455, [email protected] (general hardware + timber)

– There’s another one in Namaka, also doesn’t have everything a cruiser might need.

Liquor + Coffe:

8) Lawhilll Ltd. – Namaka, T 672 5226 (turn right just before Pacific fuel station, will see big letters on their warehouse (and Lami-Suva) – great prices for wines (JP Chenet, Gossip, Westend, and others)+ champagne, some liquors (tequila + gin around 120-125 FJD ) and Fiji Coffee (FJD 32/500g)); deliver to Denarau

– Lulu’s Cafe – Denarau – great coffee (and cheaper than in New World at the airport)

6) Jetpoint Center, Martintar:

Cinema, 2 discos (Ice + White House and Ed’s Bar is almost opposite), RB Patel supermarket and various other little shops and restaurants

Spa Denarau:

There are surely many great massages all over Denarau and the resorts.

We had deep tissue with Seru at Spa Denarau, she’s fantastic and hence worth mentioning, especially if you do sports or have some tight muscle issues

marina guests receive 20% discount

Lunch:

There are some cafes on the Namaka road, one even has gluten-free muffins etc. (opposite 8).

In Denarau, you find 2 locals around parking lot selling cheap Fijian food and curries.
