  Colonia, Yap Island : Profile

Yap Proper, consisting of 13 islands within a reef, is the centre of the state. It is the most intriguing island in Micronesia and is peopled by one of the most distinctive cultures in the Pacific. The dances are raucous, colorful and well- orchestrated and the children are taught them from an early age. The islands' famed stone money and stone paths are beautifully preserved.
