Bahia del Sol : Profile
Bahia Del Sol lies one mile inside the Estero de Jaltepeque.
Position 13°16.3'N, 88°53.8'W.
Clearance is straightfoward. Port officials come to the boat and process all paperwork on the spot.
There is a US$10 charge by immigration to check into El Salvador.

There is a sandbar at the entrance which can be dangerous and entry should not be attempted except at high water slack in good weather. It is advisable to have a guide boat when entering. If entry is not possible, then shelter can be found in the Gulf of Fonseca. Alternatively, it is possible to anchor at the meeting point waypoint as the holding is good in the sand, although it might be a little rolly.
Contact Murray and Colette on s/v Tarazed a few hours in advance of arrival on VHF CH16 and they will advise you of the meeting waypoint.
Call the marina for tidal information and a swell report.
Boat moorage is provided by Murry and Collete at $5.00 per day and the boat is checked weekly if you want to leave it while travelling inland. This is an ideal port to safely leave your boat for an extended period of time.
Moorings are also available in front of Hotel Bahia Del Sol for US$7. per day.
There are good anchorages in the Bahia in 4 to 7m in sand/mud.
