  Alexandria : Profile

Clearance

Yachts must go to the eastern harbour, and anchor off the Yacht Club of Egypt, who will help with formalities.

Docking

The Port of Alexandria, is located on the western edge of the River Nile delta, about 150 NM west of the entrance to the Suez Canal. It is one of the oldest ports in the world (its lighthouse was one of the seven wonders of the ancient world). Nowadays, it is Egypt’s largest and most important commercial port. It is a busy, crowded place.

Beware that in East Harbour there are numerous rocks with less than a metre clearance. This is especially so near the Sea Scout Club seawall.

Yacht Clubs

The yacht club in Alexandria (Tel.4802366/4802563), located in the eastern harbour, normally allows visitors to use its facilities. There are various workshops known to the yacht club which can undertake engine, electrical and some electronic repairs as well as fibreglass, metal work and carpentry. Small quantities of fuel and water are available.
