We anchored at the little harbor in front of the little yacht club (that's really stretching the term). The anchorage was calm, and the holding was good.
You can dinghy to the govt pier from there and access the town. If you dinghy to the yacht club be prepared to pay 10USD. Although we did at one point in our two day stay go to the marina to move fuel via jugs to the boats, and had 'presidentes' in between. other than that there is really no need to go to the yacht club.
Look for a guy named Fernando. He was a great guide. He took us all over the town, to markets, cell phone stores, restaurants, and negotiated for diesel to be brought to the yacht club for us. He was great, and made us feel safe in a very busy downtown environment. Be prepared to be patient on your way out of this town to other stops.
