Fuel

There is a gas station with gas and diesel directly across the street from the moorings.  Diesel can also be ordered by truck but be aware the hoses may not be so clean. It may be more advisable to jerry jug fuel and filter it before filling your tank.

Water

There is a shower and toilet on the quayside. At the port office you pay NZ$30 for the key.

There are water spigots nearby. A 200 foot length of hose is required to use the spigot at the Takeaway Restaurant.

Good drinking water that has been electronically filtered is available at the canteen inside the secure container unloading area nearby.  Look for the green hose in the kitchen area.

LPG (gas)

Gas bottles can be filled with butane at an office next to the harbour. Gas bottles have the US valves and are filled with butane. Cylinders can also be exchanged in town.

Do not buoy your anchor in Avatiu harbour. It's likely that the buoy will be in the way of shipping and you will probably be asked to remove it.

All there mooring information is correct; surge is a major problem if there is any N in the wind. All officials now come to the harbor, not Trader Jacks. Do not go ashore until you have permission! The harbor master is a great guy, very helpful. Anthony sv Wild Fox
