Money

Renminbi (RMB) or yuan (Y) = 10 jiao. All records of exchange should be kept. One cannot import or export local currency. Foreign currency must be declared.

Communications

International dialing code for China is +86.

Chinese cellular service has greatly improved along with the coverage, while the rates have lowered.

A prepaid SIM card for China with a world cell phone is the most convenient and economical solution. All incoming calls while you travel China are no more then $.19 USD per minute (Only $.07 in Guangdong province), regardless of where they originate. Pay the local rate for local calls on a cellular phone.

Fire - 119
Ambulance - 120
Traffic Accident - 122
Weather - 121

999, for all of the above services in Beijing and Shanghai, but it is privately operated.

In most cities, the emergency numbers provide assistance in English and Mandarin.
