Valparaiso : Profile

Location

Port of Valparaiso lies on the coast of central Chile about 100 miles northwest of the country’s capital, Santiago. The port lies on the shores where a coastal mountain range forms a rocky peninsula and a sheltered bay. Built on steep hillsides, Port of Valparaiso is a labyrinth of cobblestone alleys and streets. It is a treasure of cultural and architectural history.

Position 33°2.7' S, 71°37' W.

Docking

This is Chile's busiest port. There is a small boat harbour about 2 miles east of the commercial port. A quieter berth may be had at the Yacht Club at Quintero, north of Valparaiso.
