Puerto Rosario : Profile
Yachts should come alongside on the inside of the southern fishing dock, if there is space, or raft on the outside of one of the larger fishing boats. Alternatively, one can anchor north of the longer pontoon leaving enough space for boats to manoeuvre.
On arrival the captain should report to the port office (Tel. 928 850157) in a white building with wooden doors to the left of the gates leading into the commercial port. Working hours are 0700-1400 Monday to Friday and outside of office hours a watchman is on duty. The port official will direct a yacht to a berth. If there is space, smaller yachts may be able to go onto one of the three pontoons which are mostly taken up by local fishing boats.
There is water on the fishing quay and electricity on the pontoons, but otherwise the port has limited facilities for yachts. Puerto del Rosario is more suited for commercial shipping or fishing vessels and yachts are better served by the small marina at Puerto Castillo a few miles further south although for any repair it is better to check first facilities in Puerto Rosario. The port has been expanded with more facilities for visiting yachts. added.
Entering Puerto del Rosario presents no problem as the entrance clear of any dangers. Steer towards the eastern breakwater and once past its end, make for the smaller southern wharf. It is possible to anchor in the harbour.
Port Control Tel:0034 928 850 157 Opening Hours: 0700-1400 Mon-Fri On arrival, the captain should report to the port office.
