Playa Blanca : Profile

Location

Located on the south coast, this former fishing harbour has some floating pontoons but most spaces are taken up by local boats so visitors have little chance of finding space.

Yachts should use the new Marina Rubicon, one mile to the east.

Postion 28deg 51.5'N, 13deg 50'W.

Clearance

On arrival in the port, the captain should report to the port office, located on the western dock, in the ferry terminal building, immediately north of the bar and terrace.

Office hours are 0800-2000 Monday to Friday, 0800-1800 Saturday. All formalities can be completed with the port official who monitors VHF Channel 8.

Docking

The harbour has no outlying dangers, and the entrance, open to the east, is straightforward once the end of the mole has been located.

The harbour does not have much room, and visiting yachts should anchor in the eastern part of the harbour keeping well clear of the ferries. If there is space, arriving yachts may come alongside the quay by the fixed crane and travelift pen.

The four pontoons are all taken up by small local boats.
