He was the driving force behind the efforts to turn what was once a dirty fishing harbour into a modern marina and could solve most problems. As of Monday 6 February 2012 the fuel dock is now managed directly by Texaco. Services being offered as Pedro once did (laundry service being one of them) are currently unknown.

Most yachts call at Las Palmas to provision for their transatlantic passage as provisioning is the best in the Canaries with an excellent selection of shops. All large supermarkets deliver free to yachts.

There is a stall on the ground floor selling freshly ground coffee and on the first floor a stall selling fresh spices and herbsand excellent Chinese stall.

  • Mercado de las Palmas is on the edge of the old Vegueta district south of the port, by the flyover. There is a section for fruit and vegetables and one for meat and cheese products.

  • Mercado del Puerto, next to the commercial port, is the smallest market.

Las Canteras bakery will deliver fresh bread to a yacht before departure. Boutique de Pan Franci is Calle Luis Doreste Silva (past Cruz Mayor supermarket, on the left side of the road).

There is a small supermarket at the Texaco dock in the marina, selling basic food items and a limited range of boat equipment, including lubricating oils.
