Las Palmas de Gran Canaria : Repair Facilities

Boatyards

Repair facilities in Las Palmas are the best in the Canaries and almost any type of repair can be carried out. The biggest concentration of workshops is in Urbanizacion Sebadal, an industrial estate on the peninsula north of the commercial harbour. There is normally a callout fee for any specialist called to a yacht.

Unfortunately, the Muelle Deportivo Boatyard closed in 2011 and removed all its services and travelift. It is very unlikely that any boatyard facility in the marina will be available before 2012. Global Nautic Services (GNS) however, who operate out of the Real Club Nautico in Las Palmas, can still provide haulout and associated services (see below).

The next closest usable travelift is at Taliarte industrial marina about 20kms from Las Palmas, although this is a bit rough and ready. The Real Club Nautico (next to the Muelle Deportivo) has a travelift, but this is for private club use only and NOT to be relied on by visiting yachts (unless contracting work via GNS). Other marinas in the Canaries provide good alternatives, including (but not limited to): Pasito Blanco, Mogan and Puerto Rico in Gran Canaria, as well as Marina Rubicon and Puerto Calero in Lanzarote.
