Angra dos Reis : Profile
Lying about 60 miles south of Rio de Janeiro, it is in the Baia da Ilha Grande. (See separate entry for details of this bay). This port is a growing yachting centre with good repair facilities.
Customs clearance must be done in Rio which means either visiting Rio first or making the day trip there to complete paperwork. It is about a 3 hour drive; there are good bus connections and the buses are usually airconditioned.
A lively fishing harbour, also sporting two marinas, a yacht club and a great number of private docks.
There is also a marina at Port Bracuhy with some of the best repair facilities in Brazil.
It is also possible to anchor in front of the city wharf.
