  Praia da Vitoria : Profile

Location

Praia da Vitoria is situated on the east coast of Terceira at 38º43´N and 27º03´W and lies in a protected bay.

Clearance

Visiting yachts may complete all clearance formalities at the marina.

Docking

The marina is located in the NW of the bay, between the beaches Prainha and Praia Grande and the Beira-Mar Avenue. The town centre is a one minute walk away.

The marina has much-improved facilities which include 210 serviced berths with water and electricity, toilets and showers, laundry, 24 hour security, 35 ton travelift.

WARNING: There is severe shoaling on the approach to the marina as a result of a period of large easterly swells November 2010. Dredging is on-going but great care is necessary if attempting to enter the marina. Radio the marina before passing the marina breakwater. Not advisable to try to enter at night.

There is a good anchorage in the bay inside the main breakwaters.

The light on the marina breakwater is not working.

This marina is reported to be one of the cheapest in the Azores (less than half the price of the others). It also has free Wi-Fi. Personal service email: paulo.nunes@cm-praiavitoria.airc.pt. The marina has a 30 ton travelift and an 80 ton travelift is planned for 2012.
