Post Office, Largo Duque d'Avila e Bolama, open 0830-1830 Monday to Friday. Metred telephone calls can be made here and faxes sent and received. Metred telephone calls can also be made from Horta Marina office, Cafe Sport, and Mid Atlantic Yacht Services.
Café Sport has opened a new space up the street, where the pilot station used to be. It is called Base Peter Zee and, besides selling whale watching trips, has two computers and plans to operate a cyberspace there to be equipped according to demand.

Horta has two full service laundries. Wash and fold pick up/delivery. One is located at the end of the marina behind the fish dock area, the other is just round the corner from the Cafe Volga. Plus there is a self-service at the marina.
The municipal market is open 0700-1500 Monday to Friday, 0700-1300 Saturday. Locally grown fruit and vegetables, also fresh meat and eggs.
Hipermercado Modelo (Tel. 292 208150) is on the road to the hospital, about 15 minutes walk from the marina control and is open on Sunday mornings. For those that enjoy smaller places than the hypermarket, on the same block of the
Municipal Market are two interesting options: Mercearia Silva on the SE corner and Casa Zeniteon the NW corner. Both close at 1pm on Saturdays. Soares,
by Porto Pim, has a good selection of wines, Tel. 292 392421.

There are several flights a week to and from Lisbon, as well as frequent flights to other islands in the Azores. TAP, SATA and four travel agencies have branches very near the marina.

Now there are two 4 star hotels in town, as well as Residencial de S.
Francisco. Estalagem de Sta. Cruz under new management. A new hotel is being built next to capitania. There are rooms, apartments and houses for rent in town. In the countryside there are a few rural tourism units such as Quinta das Buganvíleas in Castelo
Branco, Casa do Capitão in Cedros.

Its fame is due to the Azevedo family who have been welcoming sailors to Horta's shores for more than 80 years.
