Australia: Gold Coast to get new Port of Entry

Queensland’s Gold Coast is now a designated customs and immigration clearance point for visiting international yachts. The decision to include the Southport Yacht Club on the list of approved international arrival points comes after years of lobbying by the local marine industry.

We have picked up reports both by the Ocean Cruising Club and Australian Marinas Guide about this new Port of Entry for the Gold Coast (see links below).

Border officials on Australia’s Gold Coast will begin clearing vessels from international ports from 1 July, 2017. The programme is aimed to run for about a year as a test before eventually opening as an official permanent Port of Entry.

Australian Border Force and Biosecurity officers will be located at the Southport Yacht Club in Queensland and will be active from 1 July this year until 30 June 2018, which is designed to coincide with the 2018 Commonwealth Games. Foreign vessels of less than 50 metres length can be cleared at the boarding station.
