Durres : Profile
This is the largest port in Albania and lies on the northern edge of a large, shallow bay. The capital, Tirana, is about 20 miles east of the port.
Call Port Control on channel 15 or 16, who will direct the boat to an area of the commercial harbour. Protection is very good but strong southerly winds may cause a surge to the inner basin.
The port captain may insist that a shipping agent is used to deal with formalities and, in fact, this is pretty essential to be able to successfully deal with the paperwork.
It is recommended to contact the agent in advance.
Fees Aug 08 for 13.6m LOA yacht – Euro 63 inc 2 nights alongside.

Vital Shipping Agency Captain Llambi Papa Tel:+355 52 372 44, Mobile: +355 69 2063 544 vital@albmail.com Speaks excellent English. Phone or email in advance to arrange a berth and prepare for clearance. Can also provide an Albanian flag. Fees very reasonable.
The walls here are high and are protected by very large tyres, so be prepared.
It is pretty dirty and there are no facilities at all for yachts.
The agent can also arrange for diesel fuel and water from a truck as well
services to travel inland and security for the yacht. Contact him in advance to arrange docking space in the port as there is no designated area for yachts and no facilities of any sort for yachts.
